Sharon insists that no matter what the source or colour, once a painting is finished interpretation is optional, perhaps even irrelevant. "If I had fixed ideas about how my work should be interpreted, I'd paint more realistically," she says. "Some of my paintings are just colourful diversions from reality, like Blue View which is basically just mountains. I used the purple at the bottom to match someones cushions," she admits. "Others have greater significance. But, in the end, does it matter which is which? I doubt it." |
