"In Dante's Inferno, hell is experienced at various levels and I wanted to paint it," Sharon explains, referring to her diptych, Sins of Will #8.

"Here, the lesser sins – pride, sloth and envy – are at the top, a red bar bordered with gold. It says, hey, we're good guys, our sins are minor. Then, as the colour intensifies and the texture thickens, it loses form, and we get down to the real baddies.

"It was that idea that inspired me, that everyone's a sinner."
