Whatever their inspiration, all Sharon's paintings - most of them in vibrant blues and reds combined with metallics - are brazenly decorative abstracts that are somewhat at odds with her introspective manner.

"Essentially, my blue paintings are just decorations, an antidote to the reds," she says.

"I use shades of blue and turquoise to calm and soothe, and reds to enflame. They represent the antitheses of my emotions."
